Faceted peridot on 17 inch tan silk cord.
Peridots might be considered by many as the affordable cousin of emeralds, this green stone is spectacular in its own right. Originating from lava, meteorites and olivine mineral found in earth’s upper mantle, peridots are known for their olive green colour, with the hue’s intensity being determined by the amount of iron present in the crystal.
In ancient Rome, this gemstone was known as the “evening emerald”, due to its ability to reflect light even under low lighting.
